The Aim
Save The Family, a Chester-based charity, secured grant funding to improve site energy efficiency through solar PV and LED lighting upgrades. With a very tight maintenance budget and strict grant deadline, the organisation required a reliable, low-maintenance solution that would deliver measurable savings and a strong return on investment.
The Solution
An 83.5kW Solar PV system was installed, comprising 159 x 525W panels with SolarEdge optimisers and two 30kW inverters, complete with full site import and export monitoring. A high-efficiency LED lighting upgrade with seven-year warranties was also delivered. All design, DNO permissions, installation and commissioning were completed within nine weeks.
The Outcome
The system is projected to generate savings of approximately £7,900 per year, delivering a positive return and payback in under six years. Full panel-level monitoring ensures simplified maintenance and long-term reliability. The project was completed ahead of the grant deadline, with minimal disruption and fewer than four weeks on site.
