Two neighbouring homes installed solar and battery systems to reduce energy bills while protecting the appearance of their Welsh slate roofs.
The Aim
Two neighbouring homeowners with almost identical properties wanted to maximise roof space and significantly reduce energy bills. As house-proud residents with traditional Welsh slate roofs, maintaining the appearance and integrity of their homes was just as important as improving energy efficiency.
The Solution
A tailored solar and battery solution was designed for both properties, including Longi all-black panels mounted using specialist slate roof flashing systems. Growatt string inverters and GivEnergy AC-coupled batteries delivered 19kWh of storage, ensuring efficient energy generation, smart storage and a clean, sympathetic roof installation.
The Outcome
Both households now benefit from reduced grid reliance and significantly lower electricity bills, supported by substantial battery storage for evening use. The installations preserved the character of the slate roofs while delivering a reliable, easy-to-manage system backed by local expertise for ongoing support and maintenance.
